Therefore, many laboratories using this assay will report, along with the serologic type, the molecular type, and also the mean fluorescence intensity (MFI) in a single answer. HLA DRB3, 4 and 5 belong to the HLA class II beta chain paralogues that formed as a evolutionary duplication of HLA-DRB1. The HLA-DRB5, HLA-DRB3, and HLA-DRB4 genes encode for the serological antigens DR51, DR52 and DR53, respectively.
