Part Descriptions
LP15389-7 Angiotensin II
The active form of angiotensin. An octapeptide found in blood, it is synthesized from ANGIOTENSIN I and quickly destroyed. Angiotensin II causes profound vasoconstriction with a resulting increase in blood pressure. It differs among species by the amino acid in position 5. The human form has ISOLEUCINE in this position. The clinically and experimentally used bovine form has VALINE in position 5. Medically useful antagonism is obtained with ACE INHIBITORS or with ANGIOTENSIN II TYPE 1 RECEPTOR BLOCKERS.

LP15389-7 Angiotensin II
Angiotensin II is an eight amino acid peptide formed by Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (ACE) cleavage of Angiotensin I. Angiotensin II is metabolized further to Angiotensin III. Angiotensin II release is controlled by Renin, blood pressure, blood volume, sodium balance and by Aldosterone concentration. Levels of Angiotensin II are increased in many types of hypertension. Angiotensin II stimulates the release of Anti-Diuretic Hormone, ACTH, Prolactin, Luteinizing Hormone, Oxytocin and Aldosterone. Angiotensin II increases vasoconstriction and inhibits tubular resorption of sodium, and can increase endothelial cell growth.

Part Descriptions
LP419475-1 Angiotensin (1-7)
Angiotensin (1-7) is an active heptapeptide (amino acid sequence: Asp-Arg-Val-Tyr-Ile-His-Pro) of the renin-angiotensin system (RAS), a pathway involved in the regulation of cardiovascular physiology. It is part of a group of peptides with amino acid sequence and biological function similar to angiotensin-(1-8) octapeptide (Angiotensin II). The amino acid sequence of angiotensin-(1-10) decapeptide (Asp-Arg-Val-Tyr-Ile-His-Pro-Phe-His-Leu) serves as reference for all angiotensin peptides. PMID: 732249 Ang (1-7) is a product of the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) 2 and can be produced from metabolism of both Angiotensin II and Angiotensin I via different pathways. Both ACE2 and Ang (1-7) are thought to have counteracting effects against other RAS components, such as angiotensin II. Several studies have found that Ang (1-7) and ACE2 have protective effects in the heart and blood vessels and could serve as therapeutic targets for cardiovascular disease. PMID: 24776703
