Alpha-internexin IgG Ab [Presence] in Serum by Cell binding immunofluorescent assay
Active
Part Descriptions
LP269367-1 CBA IFA
In cell binding assays or cell-based assays (CBA) also known as cell-based immunoassays, the DNA coding for a particular antigen is transfected into cultured cells, which are then used directly as substrate for antibody detection by immunofluorescence. The advantage of CBA IFA over conventional immunoassays is that purification and stability of the antigen is not required and they provide an in vivo substrate.

Neuronal intermediate filaments (NIFs) are a group of neurofilaments that include light, medium, and heavy subunits as well as alpha-internexin. Accumulation of these filaments in the central nervous system is associated with a variety of progressive neurodegenerative disorders. PMID: 15161649 Antibodies to NIFs are associated with paraneoplastic disorders affecting the central nervous system, including those associated with cerebellar ataxia and/or encephalopathy.
