Part Descriptions
LP14298-1 Chlamydia trachomatis
Chlamydia trachomatis is one of three bacterial species in the genus Chlamydia, family Chlamydiaceae, class Chlamydiae. C. trachomatis has only been found living inside human cells . It causes urethritis , epididymitis, and proctitis in men and cervicitis, salpingitis, urethritis and proctitis in women. C. trachomatis has also been detected in some patients with temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disease. It may be treated with any of several antibiotics such as azithromycin, erythromycin or doxycyclinetetracycline. C. trachomatis was the first chlamydial agent discovered in humans. It comprises two human biovars: trachoma and lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV). Many, but not all, C. trachomatis strains have an extrachromosomal plasmid.

LP37619-1 Chlamydia trachomatis rRNA
A target amplification nucleic acid probe that utilizes target capture for in vitro qualitative detection and differentiation of ribosomal RNA (rRNA) from Chlamydia trachomatis. Specimens include vaginal and male urethral swabs as well as female and male urine specimens. Chlamydia trachomatis is the number one cause of sexually transmitted disease in the United States. Infants born to women with chlamydial infection of the cervix are at risk of acquiring an infection during vaginal birth.
