Term Description
Use this term to record the feeding types the infant consumed prior to collection of the newborn screening specimen. Select any answers that apply; you can select more than one answer. If you select "other," use the additional narrative LOINC code for "Other feeding types" to give additional details. Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) can affect NBS results for amino acids, and possibly for acylcarnitines if TPN includes carnitine. Carnitine can affect NBS results for acylcarnitines. MCT oil can affect NBS results for fatty acids. IV dextrose can affect NBS results for C16-OH carnitine.
