Term Description

Rheumatoid arthritis disease activity score is based on the measurements of 12 serum proteins. An algorithm is applied to these concentrations to calculate a quantitative disease activity score ranging from 1 to 100. Test results are intended to aid in the assessment of disease activity in RA patients when used in conjunction with a standard clinical assessment. The test is not intended or validated to diagnose RA. This term is based on Crescendo BioScience's Vectra DA blood test for rheumatoid arthritis disease activity.

The RA disease activity score is determined by a multi-biomarker disease activity (MBDA) algorithm, which was developed in a series of studies and clinically validated using the DAS28-CRP as a standard. The MBDA algorithm is as follows:

The biomarker concentrations in the above formulas are expressed in pg/mL. All concentration values (except CRP) are transformed to the power 1/10 prior to use in the algorithm. MBDA scores are integers from 1 to 100 where 1 to 29 are considered low disease activity, 30 to 44 are moderate disease activity, and 45 to 100 are high disease activity.
