Term Description
This term was created for, but is not limited in use to, Pathogenius Laboratories' Level 1 Wound and/or ENT test panels, which use quantitative PCR to identify commonly-found microorganisms in wound or ear, nose, and throat samples, respectively.

Part Descriptions
LP185682-4 Pseudomonas aeruginosa regA gene
A species of gram-negative, aerobic, rod-shaped bacteria commonly isolated from clinical specimens (wound, burn, and urinary tract infections). It is also found widely distributed in soil and water. P. aeruginosa is a major agent of nosocomial infection.

LP185682-4 Pseudomonas aeruginosa regA gene
Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an important opportunistic pathogen that causes severe respiratory infection. Exotoxin A (toxA) is one of its primary virulence factors, and the presence of RegA , a protein encoded by the regA gene, is essential for P aeruginosa toxA expression. Identification of the regA gene in clinical specimens can be useful for identifying P aeruginosa as a causative pathogen. PMID: 18048935

- Change Reason
- The PrThr property is used for LOINC terms whose results are reported using an ordered categorical scale, regardless of whether or not an internal threshold was used to make that determination. This change was approved by the Laboratory LOINC Committee in June 2016.
