Thiopurine methyltransferase (TPMT) is an enzyme that catalyzes the S-methylation of thiopurine drugs including 6-mercatptopurine, thioguanine, and azathioprine (AZA). These drugs are used to treat acute lymphoblastic leukemia, inflammatory bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and organ transplant rejection.
