Detection of IgM antibodies against Hantavirus seoul (SEOV) serotype in serum or plasma by line blot method for the diagnosis of hantavirus infections. The term was created for, but not limited in use to, the submitter's test kit, Euroimmun's EUROLINE Hantavirus Profile Global, an immunoblot (line blot) which differentiates between different hantavirus serotypes, including Puumala (PUUV), Dobrava (DOBV), Hantaan (HTNV), Seoul (SEOV), Sin Nombre (SNV) and Andes (ANDV).

Hantaviruses are rodent-borne pathogens normally transmitted to humans via feces, urine, and saliva of infected rodents. Several human pathogenic hantavirus subtypes are known worldwide, including Hantaan, Dobrova, Seoul, Puumala, Sin Nombre and Saaremaa. Hantaviruses are known to cause haemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS), kidney failure, acute respiratory distress syndrome, and Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome. Source: Regenstrief LOINC
