96061-7 HLA donor match status [Type]
Term Description
The HLA donor to patient match type (matched or mismatched). When matching a donor to a recipient, an HLA mismatch approach to organ allocation increases the number of patients that could potentially be recipients for a particular donor, though matched donations may have improved outcomes in the long-run.

LP28493-2 Karyotype
A karyotype is a standardized arrangement of chromosomes. In normal diploid organisms, autosomal chromosomes are present in two identical copies, although polyploid cells have multiple copies of chromosomes and haploid cells have single copies. The chromosomes are paired, ordered by size, stained and displayed in a standard format known as an idiogram. Karyotypes are used to study chromosomal aberrations, and may be used to determine other macroscopically visible aspects of an individual's genotype, such as sex. The pattern of individual chromosomes is called chromosome banding, whereas the study of whole sets of chromosomes is known as karyology. Normal human karyotypes contain 22 pairs of autosomal chromosomes and one pair of sex chromosomes.

20152-5 Percent of predicted forced expiratory volume in one-second (FEV1)
Part Descriptions
LP140652-1 Volume expired during 1.0 s of forced expiration
The forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1) is the volume of air that can be exhaled in one second. It is usually measured as part of the forced vital capacity (FVC), which is the total amount of air that can be exhaled in a full forced exhalation. The pattern of FVC, FEV1, and the FEV1/FVC ratio can be used together to determine the type of respiratory disease. A normal or low FVC with an FEV1/FVC of <0.7 indicates obstructive pulmonary disease, while low FVC and FEV1/FVC of >0.7 indicates respiratory disease. Normal values for FEV1 and FVC vary based on several factors including age, sex, height, and weight. PMID: 15023009

22239-8 Patient Cytomegalovirus (CMV) serology
Part Descriptions
LP14255-1 Cytomegalovirus
Cytomegalovirus is a member of the family Herpesviridae and also known as Human Herpesvirus-5 (HHV-5). It contains a linear double-stranded DNA encased in an icosahedral capsid that is surrounded by a viral envelope. It replicates slowly and may take weeks for the infection to become visible microscopically. Its life cycle includes a lytic and a latent phase. During the lytic phase the cytoskeleton of the infected cell is disrupted and becomes very large. The enlarged cell eludes detection by natural killer (NK) cells by encoding UL16. UL16 is a protein that binds to the ligand NDG2D which is a surface receptor on NK cells and, when blocked, prevents the CMV infected cell from apoptotic signaling to NK cells to destroy it.[https://pedclerk.bsd.uchicago.edu/page/cytomegalovirus-cmv] In the US one in three children are infected by CMV by the age of five and over half of adults are infected by age 40. Infection with CMV is mostly asymptomatic. Symptoms when present include fever, sore throat, fatigue, swollen glands. CMV can occasionally lead to mononucleosis or hepatitis. Immunocompromised patients experience much more acute symptoms that can affect the eyes, lungs, liver, esophagus, stomach, and intestines. For babies born with CMV, involvement with the brain, spleen, lung, liver can occur. In addition, there may be growth problems and hearing loss which is the most common symptom in congenital CMV infection. CMV is transmitted in urine, saliva, blood, tears, semen and breast milk by direct contact. Normally no treatment is necessary, but for severe cases medication is available.[https://www.cdc.gov/cmv/overview.html]

- The PrThr property is used for LOINC terms whose results are reported using an ordered categorical scale, regardless of whether or not an internal threshold was used to make that determination. This change was approved by the Laboratory LOINC Committee in June 2016.; Updated System from Ser to Ser/Plas since this test can also be performed on plasma.

Term Description
The overall score for the Revised Pretransplant Assessment of Mortality (PAM) Score assessment. The total score is calculated based on the individual scored values for the patient's age group (<65 or >=65), donor relationship & HLA match, hematologic malignancy diagnosis and disease status, percent of predicted forced expiratory volume in one-second (FEV1), and the patient and donor cytomegalovirus serology results (negative/positive).
