Term Description
The Fitzpatrick skin type classification scale is a recognized standard in dermatology used to estimate the response of different types of skin to ultraviolet (UV) light. Fitzpatrick skin types range from Type I to VI where patient's with Type I always burn and never tan (pale white; blond or red hair; blue eyes; freckles) and patient's with Type VI never burn (deeply pigmented dark brown to darkest brown).
