LOINC was established in 1994 as a public use code system for exchanging laboratory and clinical observations between computer systems. As we observe 25 years in pursuit of health data interoperability, we hope you will join us in celebrating this important milestone.

LOINC DAY - FEBRUARY 16

We are hereby establishing February 16 as our inaugural celebration of LOINC Day! It was on this date in 1994 that Clem McDonald, Stan Huff, and other founding members of the LOINC Committee first met and began creating what would become an integral standard for health data around the world.

己亥猪年

Serendipitously, 2019 is the Year of the Pig according to the Chinese Zodiac. Since a pig serves as LOINC's official mascot, we have yet another reason to celebrate!
