The Health Data Standards (HDS) team within Regenstrief Institute is very proud to announce the release of LOINC version 2.78
This update includes 1,589 new concepts and 1,416 edits to existing LOINCs. For a breakdown by type, a summary of new and updated content, and technical notices, see the LOINC Release Notes within our LOINC Knowledge Base.
Get LOINC version 2.78 by the normal means:
- Download the zip with all the table files along with release artifacts.
- Access via the LOINC Terminology Service using HL7® FHIR®; see our documentation.
- Find individual concepts using our browser-based SearchLOINC app.
- Browse the hierarchies of codes using our Hierarchy Browser web app.
The above resources require a LOINC username and password. You can get yours for free.

LOINC releases updates two times per year, in February and August. The database of health measurements, observations, and documents now includes 104,054 coded concepts from LOINC 1-8 for Acyclovir susceptibility to 106413-8 for a Public notary's county of commission.
This work, as always, is a collaboration between Regenstrief HDS, the LOINC Committee, and the organizations who make requests for new concepts. Furthermore, we are indebted to our network of volunteers who translate concepts from the original English (US) into 19 language variants.
